Caixa expands Reforma Casa Brasil housing loan program
Brazil's Caixa bank has widened the Reforma Casa Brasil program that finances home repairs and improvements. The monthly family income ceiling rose from R$ 9,600 to R$ 13,000, while the maximum loan amount increased to R$ 50,000. Interest rates were reduced to 0.99 % per month (total charges) and the repayment term was extended from 60 to 72 months.
Applicants can request up to 90 % of the approved amount through the Caixa app, uploading photos and geolocation of the property. The remaining 10 % is released after the work is finished and a final photo is submitted, typically within 55 days. The program, funded by the Social Fund, is open to owners and renters and can cover structural repairs, electrical or hydraulic upgrades, and even solar‑energy projects. Caixa super‑intendant Marcos Tavaniello highlighted the simplicity of the process and the growing demand for the credit line in the Vale do Sinos region.
