CaixaBank completes €20 million purchase of MicroBank tower in Barcelona
CaixaBank, through its VidaCaixa subsidiary, has finalized the acquisition of the Torre Centro of the Cerdà complex in Barcelona for a price just over €20 million. The purchase gives the bank ownership of the three towers that house its own offices, MicroBank and other tenants, and is intended to support the organic growth outlined in its 2025‑2027 strategic plan.
The deal expands VidaCaixa’s centralized office space, adding the eighth floor of the tower to its existing presence in the Torre Sur and consolidating work areas to accommodate more flexible, collaborative work models. Following the transaction, VidaCaixa’s real‑estate investment totals €49.1 million, while the bank’s overall investment portfolio stands at €61.3 billion, including €42.4 billion in Spanish public debt. The acquisition reflects a broader trend of rising demand for high‑quality office space in Spain, where the market saw an 80 % year‑on‑year increase in leased area in the first quarter of 2026.
