Argentina and Mexico municipalities boost drainage cleaning and road works

Municipal authorities in several Argentine cities—including Bariloche, Berazategui, La Banda, Formosa, Corrientes, Barranqueras and others—have carried out intensive cleaning of storm‑water drains, removal of debris, and repair of culverts to prevent flooding during the rainy season. Workers installed metal and wooden protective plates, cleared accumulated mud, tires, stones and construction waste, and replaced broken pipes, often in coordination with water agencies.

In Mexico, the Puebla State Secretariat of Infrastructure protected and desazolved drainage structures during road paving, while Mexico City’s mayor Enrique Galindo oversaw the replacement of aging sanitary ducts. The JMAS utility performed preventive maintenance on the Teófilo Borunda collector, and the municipal cleaning service in the city centre continued daily sweeps and large‑item removals.

Officials in each locality urged residents not to dump trash in streets or drainage channels, emphasizing that community cooperation is essential to keep water flowing and avoid water‑logging of homes and roads. The combined efforts aim to improve transitability, safeguard public health and reduce flood‑related disruptions across the affected neighborhoods.
