Caju de Leitores Festival to held in Pataxó Indigenous Territory
The 5th edition of the Caju de Leitores Festival is scheduled to take place from September 2 to 4, 2026, in the Xandó Village within the Barra Velha Indigenous Territory in Porto Seguro, Bahia. Under the theme ‘Um Manifesto de Bichos’ (An Animal Manifesto), the event will focus on the intersection of literature, oral tradition, education, and indigenous knowledge.
The festival aims to foster reader development and strengthen the connection between literature and territory. The program will feature writers, artists, educators, and indigenous leaders, with activities centered around the Oca Tururim. This edition honors Maria Coruja, a Pataxó leader recognized for her contributions to community memory and traditional knowledge.
