Cal Crutchlow crashes out of Silverstone MotoGP

Cal Crutchlow’s return to the Silverstone MotoGP ended in a double DNF following crashes in both the Sprint race and the grand prix. After making his first appearance at the British Grand Prix since 2021, Crutchlow showed competitive pace throughout the weekend, outqualifying Pol Espargaro and competing closely with riders like Toprak Razgatlioglu.

His Sprint race was cut short by contact on the opening lap. In the main grand prix, Crutchlow experienced a braking error on lap six while attempting to chase the lead group. He attributed the crash to a loss of front-end grip, noting that he had been braking early while following other riders to manage rear tyre wear. He explained, “Then the first lap that I braked in a normal place, the front tyre just wouldn’t handle it and I basically crashed in a straight line.”

Crutchlow expressed significant disappointment regarding the outcome for himself and his team but maintained that his performance demonstrated he was the fastest he has ever been at the Silverstone circuit.
