Calabria agrifood sector highlights youth entrepreneurship and local tradition
In Reggio Calabria, Italian Labor Minister Marina Elvira Calderone highlighted the growing importance of the agrifood and enogastronomic sectors in Calabria. Speaking at the 'Vinitaly and the City' event, Calderone emphasized that women and young people are becoming central figures in the region's new entrepreneurship. She noted that many young professionals are choosing to stay in or return to Calabria to develop business projects, often blending traditional gastronomic practices with research, technology, and innovation to improve work safety and efficiency.
In the Vibo Valentia area, the 'Distretto del Cibo' (Food District) made its public debut in Spilinga during a celebration of the traditional 'Nduja di Spilinga.' Led by Luisa Caronte, the territorial development agency aims to act as an economic driver for the region by supporting various local supply chains, including meat, oil, wine, and dairy. The event showcased the versatility of local products through culinary demonstrations and emphasized the district's role in promoting the territory's nutritional and economic potential.
