Calabria expands pharmacy services to include vaccinations and telemedicine
The Calabria Region has officially launched new phases of the ‘Farmacia dei Servizi’ (Pharmacy Services) initiative. Under a regional integrative agreement, participating pharmacies can now provide expanded medical services to the public.
Vaccination services will include influenza, COVID-19, HPV, Herpes Zoster, and measles, provided they follow regional and national programming and target specific eligible categories. These vaccinations must be administered by pharmacists who meet the necessary training and professional requirements.
Additionally, pharmacies will offer telemedicine services, including electrocardiograms, blood pressure Holter monitoring, cardiac Holter monitoring, and spirometry. To access telemedicine, citizens must possess a valid National Health Service (SSN) prescription from their General Practitioner, including the relevant exemption code. This expansion aims to strengthen the regional healthcare network, particularly in small municipalities and internal areas.
