Calabria healthcare service expansions

Healthcare services in the Calabria region are undergoing organizational and functional expansions. In Reggio Calabria, new labor agreements have been established to ensure employment stability, wages, and job security for cleaning and sanitization staff at the Grande Ospedale Metropolitano and the Azienda Sanitaria Provinciale (ASP) during service transitions to new providers. Simultaneously, the ASP has integrated the association Con. Te. Sto. APS into its ‘Case della Comunità’ network to enhance support for individuals with complex disabilities and neurodevelopmental needs.

On a broader regional scale, the ‘Farmacia dei Servizi’ (Pharmacy Services) initiative has expanded. Participating pharmacies are now authorized to provide various vaccinations, including influenza, COVID-19, HPV, Herpes Zoster, and measles. Furthermore, pharmacies have introduced telemedicine services such as electrocardiograms, blood pressure Holter monitoring, cardiac Holter monitoring, and spirometry, provided patients have a valid National Health Service (SSN) prescription. These developments aim to strengthen the regional healthcare network, particularly in smaller municipalities and internal areas.
