Calabria Governor Occhiuto Bans Outdoor Work During Peak Heat
The president of Italy's Calabria region, Roberto Occhiuto, signed an ordinance that will remain in force until 30 September. It forbids work during the hottest part of the day – between 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. – on days when the regional heat‑risk map indicates a high‑risk level.
The ban applies to workers in sectors most exposed to extreme temperatures, including agriculture and floriculture, environmental‑hygiene services, construction sites, confined‑space facilities lacking ventilation, and extractive industries. The measure is intended to protect employees from severe micro‑climatic conditions and prevent heat‑related health risks while allowing work on cooler days.
