Calabria health authority rolls out Community Houses and Hospitals network
The regional health agency (ASP) of Catanzaro announced a roadmap to activate Community Houses (Case della Comunità) and Community Hospitals across its territory. The plan emphasizes co‑design with local municipalities, third‑sector groups and the public, aims for 24‑hour access, recruits new staff, equips facilities and introduces telemedicine in all sites. Meetings with mayors and citizen groups are scheduled to integrate social‑health services and promote preventive care.
In the neighbouring province of Cosenza, the ASP signed an integrative agreement with the regional federation of general practitioners, finalising the rollout of 23 new territorial structures – 16 Community Houses and 7 Community Hospitals – that are close to becoming operational. The agreement outlines multidisciplinary teamwork, a focus on chronic‑patient management, preventive programmes (including dedicated exercise spaces), and stable telemedicine links for remote consultations. "We are in the final rush of a strategic pathway destined to change profoundly the way assistance is delivered on the territory," said Commissario straordinario Vitaliano De Salazar.
