Calabria health system exits commissariat as Court of Auditors abstains

The Italian Court of Auditors (Corte dei Conti) did not issue a formal opinion on the decree of 22 April that ended the health commissariat for the Calabria region. At a central legitimacy‑control meeting on 31 July 2026, the court declared “non vi è luogo a pronuncia sul provvedimento in epigrafe”, effectively confirming that Calabria is no longer subject to the special oversight regime.

Health Minister Orazio Schillaci had previously explained that the control procedure is ongoing but that the decree already terminates the commissariat. Regional sub‑secretary Ettore Figliolia noted that the court’s “visto” was not required. The decision restores normal management of Calabria’s regional health system, although monitoring of the administration continues.
