Calabria healthcare: Proposal seeks more staff for mountain hospitals

Regional Councilor Enzo Bruno has co-signed bill n. 73/13, aimed at maintaining and strengthening hospital facilities in the mountainous, internal, and disadvantaged areas of Calabria. The proposal, primarily authored by Domenico Giannetta, targets medical centers in Acri, San Giovanni in Fiore, Serra San Bruno, Soveria Mannelli, Oppido Mamertina, and the Rogliano hospital facility.

Bruno emphasized that while the bill aims to integrate these structures with the broader hospital network, actual functionality requires more doctors, nurses, and technical staff. He specifically noted that at the Serra San Bruno hospital, advanced laboratory equipment and CT scan services are currently non-operational due to a lack of qualified technicians and medical personnel.

Additionally, the initiative seeks to improve emergency-urgency services and the 118 emergency system, which face challenges due to the region's difficult terrain and road connectivity.
