Calabria summer sales expected to generate up to €65 million
The summer sales in Calabria begin on 4 July and will run for 60 days until 1 September. Confcommercio estimates that more than 300 000 families—about 40 % of the region’s households—will shop, with an average spend of €195 per household, yielding a total business volume of €58‑65 million.
Clothing and footwear are projected to account for over half of all purchases, and more than two‑thirds of shoppers will prefer physical stores to online platforms. The province of Cosenza leads the regional market with 36 % of sales, followed by Reggio Calabria (28 %), Catanzaro (18 %), Crotone (10 %) and Vibo Valentia (8 %). Tourist‑focused areas may see sales rise 10‑20 % thanks to holiday visitors. Merchants must clearly show the original price, discount percentage and final price in compliance with transparency rules.
