A nine-day law enforcement operation known as the National Organized Retail Crime Blitz resulted in 97 arrests and the recovery of over 8,500 stolen items in California. The recovered merchandise is estimated to be worth approximately $1.05 million.

Between August 1 and August 9, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) coordinated with more than 100 law enforcement agencies as part of the nationwide effort. The operation targeted suspected theft at various retailers and shopping centers across the state, including specific activities in San Diego, Roseville, Lodi, and Stockton. Of those arrested, eight individuals face felony charges.

Governor Gavin Newsom highlighted that California has been combatting organized retail crime through the CHP Organized Retail Crime Task Force since 2019. Since its inception, the task force has conducted more than 4,700 investigations, leading to over 5,300 arrests and the recovery of more than 1.6 million stolen products valued at over $76.6 million.
