California organized retail crime enforcement

Overview

Law enforcement agencies in California have conducted multiple operations targeting organized retail theft and stolen property. Initial efforts in Southern California involved local task forces and detectives targeting specific theft rings in Los Angeles, Commerce, and San Bernardino counties. These operations resulted in the arrest of several individuals and the recovery of various goods, including clothing, cosmetics, kitchenware, and construction equipment.

Following these localized efforts, a broader nine-day initiative known as the National Organized Retail Crime Blitz took place between August 1 and August 9. Coordinated by the California Highway Patrol with over 100 agencies, the blitz resulted in 97 arrests and the recovery of more than 8,500 stolen items valued at approximately $1.05 million across the state, including San Diego, Roseville, Lodi, and Stockton.
