Pretti family accuses DOJ of shielding agents in fatal shooting

The parents of Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse killed by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis in January, have accused the Department of Justice of shielding the officers involved and violating federal victims’ rights laws.

During a news conference, Michael and Susan Pretti stated they have received no substantive information from the government in nine months. They alleged that the Trump administration attempted to slander their son’s memory by portraying him as an armed domestic terrorist, despite bystander video showing him holding only a mobile phone and court records indicating he had no criminal history.

Recent court filings revealed that federal prosecutors have stopped sharing evidence with Minnesota authorities investigating the deaths of Pretti and Renee Good. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is currently leading a lawsuit against the DOJ to secure the remaining investigative files.
