Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 details DMZ mode and release schedule
Activision and Infinity Ward have released new details regarding Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, scheduled for a global launch on October 23, 2026. The game features a campaign set during a Second Korean War and the return of the DMZ extraction mode, set in the Hajin exclusion zone.
Players who pre-order digital editions will receive early access to the campaign starting October 16 and the DMZ mode on October 20. The DMZ mode introduces a Forward Operating Base (FOB) acting as a central hub for managing gear, upgrading operators, and using 3D printers for equipment fabrication. The mode also includes a bounty system where players can act as ‘Hunters’ or ‘Killers’ in PvP encounters.
Technical details indicate the game will have a significant storage footprint. On PlayStation 5, the combined download size for the campaign, multiplayer, Warzone, and various DMZ packs is estimated to reach between 160 GB and 200 GB. Developers have also addressed connectivity concerns, noting that players may be able to reconnect to active DMZ sessions following a disconnect, provided the server remains online.
