Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 introduces bounty system and anti-cheat crackdown

Ahead of the October 23, 2026, launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, developers are implementing new gameplay mechanics and aggressive anti-cheat measures. The upcoming title will feature a new extraction mode called DMZ on the open-world map Hajin. This mode introduces a bounty system designed to target aggressive players; those who frequently hunt other players will accumulate a reputation that places them on a wanted list, making them visible to others on the map.

Simultaneously, Activision is intensifying its crackdown on cheating. Team RICOCHET has reportedly issued over 70,000 hardware bans and 5,000 account bans for the use of unauthorized hardware like Cronus Zen and XIM Matrix. In a high-profile enforcement action, developers served a cease-and-desist notice to a North American distributor of Cronus hardware in Southeast Asia to combat the use of devices that allow for unfair advantages such as aimbots and scripts.
