Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 reveals new multiplayer features and beta dates
Activision and Infinity Ward have released a new multiplayer trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, ahead of its October 23, 2026, launch. The reveal highlights several gameplay innovations, including the “Kill Block” mode, which features modular, shifting battlegrounds, and the “Apex Attachments” system, allowing for specialized weapon customization. The game will also feature 12 new 6v6 maps and a campaign set partly during an invasion of South Korea.
Two beta testing phases are scheduled for August 2026. The first weekend, running from August 21 to August 25, is an early access period for players who have pre-ordered the game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC. This phase includes a unique opportunity to play a campaign mission titled “Entrenched.” The second weekend, from August 28 to September 1, will be an open beta accessible to all players, including those on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Technical updates include a new matchmaking system designed to balance player skill with engagement metrics, and a change to the installation process. The beta will now be a separate download from the main Call of Duty HQ hub to streamline access. PC players are reminded that TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are mandatory for online play.
