Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 set for October 2026 release

Activision and Infinity Ward have officially announced the release date for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, set for October 23, 2026. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and notably, the Nintendo Switch 2.

Key gameplay updates include a return to faster movement mechanics, such as Dolphin Dive and Slide Cancel, and revised weapon handling designed to reduce speed penalties during aiming or movement. The campaign features diverse global settings, including South Korea, New York, Paris, and Mumbai. Additionally, the title will integrate with Warzone and move away from progressive advantage systems to favor more direct combat from the start of matches.

Technical highlights include the reported inclusion of NVIDIA’s DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction technology in the beta, which utilizes AI to improve lighting and image stability. The beta testing phase begins with an early access weekend for pre-orders from August 21 to August 25, followed by an open beta from August 28 to September 1.
