Callejero Fino granted house arrest in Argentina

Argentine singer Simón Natanael Alvarenga, known professionally as Callejero Fino, has been granted house arrest with electronic monitoring. The RKT artist has been in custody since August 30 following a police intervention in Tigre, where officers discovered a Glock .40 pistol with filed-off serial numbers inside his vehicle.

The court modified his charge to attenuated illegal possession of a war weapon. While the prosecutor initially argued for preventive detention due to flight risk, the judge ruled that electronic monitoring and weekly police checks could mitigate these risks. The decision also took into account a favorable socio-environmental report of his residence in Pilar and the commitment of his mother and partner to supervise him.

Alvarenga has testified that he carried the weapon for self-defense due to alleged threats and harassment from his former manager, Carlos Mauricio Mauri Fernández. The house arrest measure will become effective once the judicial resolution is finalized and no longer subject to appeal.
