Caltanissetta Carabinieri and Doctors Launch Elderly Fraud Prevention Campaign
The provincial Carabinieri command in Caltanissetta has partnered with the regional Order of Physicians and Dentists to expand a fraud‑prevention effort aimed at senior citizens. Building on a previous distribution of 100,000 leaflets through the province’s 85 pharmacies, the new initiative supplies a concise self‑help guide, or vademecum, to the 200 local general practitioners and independent pediatricians. The doctors will hand the pamphlets to patients and their caregivers during visits, ensuring the advice reaches households directly.
Around 30,000 copies of the guide have been printed and posted in every medical office, complementing ongoing activities such as informational meetings at churches, senior centres, foot‑patrol outreach and poster displays at police stations. The campaign is presented as a best‑practice model for protecting vulnerable populations and reinforcing the state’s presence in the community.
