Calvados authorities threaten sanctions over unauthorized free party

Approximately 300 people gathered on a private property in La Hoguette, south of Caen, for an unauthorized free party this Saturday. The Calvados prefecture has warned that both organizers and participants face severe judicial sanctions.

Under the recently enacted Ripost law, organizing an undeclared gathering is now classified as a criminal offense punishable by up to two years in prison and a €30,000 fine. Additionally, participating in such undeclared gatherings of more than 250 people is considered a crime carrying a potential six-month prison sentence and a €7,500 fine.
