Argentine leaders meet Pope Leo XIV ahead of papal visit

Ahead of Pope Leo XIV’s upcoming apostolic visit to Argentina in November, several Argentine delegations have met with the Pontiff at the Vatican to present key national concerns.

Ricardo Diab, president of the Argentine Confederation of Medium-Sized Enterprises (CAME), delivered an institutional document outlining the current situation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). While acknowledging government progress in inflation reduction and market openness, CAME highlighted the need for increased domestic consumption, lower tax pressure across all government levels, improved productive financing, and reduced operating costs. The entity proposed a federal table focused on labor formalization, training, territorial development, and social dialogue.

Additionally, Monsignor Luis Scozzina, Bishop of Orán, met with the Pope to discuss the pastoral reality of his diocese and the synodal process within its communities. During this meeting, he presented a letter from the National Indigenous Pastoral Team (ENDEPA) regarding the current situation and challenges faced by indigenous communities throughout Argentina.
