MRC leadership defends Maurice Kamto against administrative interference
Legal experts and officials from the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC) are challenging attempts by the Ministry of Territorial Administration to intervene in the party's internal operations.
Jurist Professor Timtchueng Moïse asserts that Maurice Kamto remains the legitimate president of the MRC, arguing that administrative correspondence cannot supersede the legal procedures established by the 1990 law on political parties. He maintains that the rule of law must prevail over political power struggles.
Similarly, MRC official Jean Pierre Noah Ngah stated that the party is choosing to resolve political disputes through legal institutions rather than confrontation. He characterized the government's actions as an administrative intrusion intended to weaken the party ahead of upcoming elections, while affirming that the MRC is continuing to organize its structures and prepare for electoral participation.
