Cameroon and Tunisia expose exam cheating schemes as authorities intervene

During the 2026 BEPC exams in Cameroon, a candidate attempted to conceal a sheet of answers by gluing it under the sole of his foot. A routine shoe inspection by an exam monitor uncovered the cheat, leading to the student's immediate disqualification and possible further sanctions.

On the same day that baccalaureate exams began in Tunisia, security forces dismantled a organised network that sold electronic earpieces to help candidates transmit answers. Five people were arrested, including two students, and the devices were seized. The operation was conducted in Sousse after investigations traced the equipment from the Monastir governorate.

Both incidents highlight ongoing challenges in safeguarding exam integrity across the region.
