Cameroon reviews bilateral cooperation with EU and South Korea

Cameroon's Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Alamine Ousmane Mey, recently met with departing diplomats from the European Union and South Korea to review bilateral cooperation.

EU Ambassador Jean-Marc Châtaignier concluded his three-year mission by reviewing major projects, including the Logone bridge, the Nachtigal power plant, and future initiatives such as the Kikot hydroelectric dam and the Ntem bridge project with Equatorial Guinea. Previous funding through the Global Europe program included 56.04 billion FCFA for 2021-2022 programs.

Separately, South Korean Ambassador Nam Ki-Wook met with Minister Mey to mark the end of his diplomatic mission. He highlighted significant progress, including a July 2024 agreement worth approximately $39.35 million (23.21 billion FCFA) provided by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). This non-reimbursable aid supports five development projects in Cameroon focusing on energy, infrastructure, skills development, and governance.
