Cameroon voter registration surge and Algeria's final campaign before legislative elections

Cameroon’s electoral authority Elecam reported that between January and June 2026 it registered 124,342 new voters and processed more than 600 updates, bringing the national voter list to over 8 million. With two months remaining, officials aim to boost registration ahead of the postponed legislative and municipal elections scheduled for late 2027.

In Algeria, the legislative election campaign entered its final phase as the electoral silence took effect. Candidates intensified door‑to‑door visits, meetings and social‑media outreach to persuade undecided voters before the campaign halt. Voters are expected to go to the polls on Thursday to choose representatives for the National People’s Assembly.
