Camila Zamorano retains WBC Atom world title in Mexico
Camila ‘La Magnífica’ Zamorano successfully defended her WBC Atom weight world title for the third time, defeating Perla ‘La Pulga’ Pérez via unanimous decision at the Arena Potosí in San Luis Potosí, Mexico.
The 18-year-old Sonoran boxer maintained her undefeated record, moving to 15 wins and zero losses. Judges scored the bout 97-93, 98-92, and 98-92 in favor of Zamorano. While Zamorano controlled much of the fight using her reach and precision, Pérez applied significant pressure starting in the fifth round.
The event, part of the ‘México Tierra de Victorias’ series, featured appearances by Mexican boxing legend Julio César Chávez and musical performance by Santa Fe Klan. The fight followed a successful weigh-in where Zamorano recorded 46.5kg and Pérez recorded 45.3kg, both meeting the WBC's biological weight tolerance regulations.
