Caminho da Fé pilgrimage route connects São Paulo and Minas Gerais

The Caminho da Fé is a religious pilgrimage route in Brazil, inspired by the Camino de Santiago, designed to support travelers heading toward the National Sanctuary of Aparecida. The network spans a total of 2,500 kilometers across the plains of São Paulo and the mountains of Minas Gerais. The main branch covers approximately 320 kilometers, typically completed in about 12 days.

The route traverses the Serra da Mantiqueira within the Atlantic Forest biome, reaching altitudes of up to 1,024 meters. Travelers encounter diverse environments, including dirt trails, forests, and paved sections, passing through various conservation units and environmental protection areas. The trail promotes community-based tourism, stimulating economic and social development in small towns and villages along the path.

Individual pilgrims, such as a couple from Livramento, have documented their journeys of faith and physical endurance. One such pair completed the 318-kilometer trek from Águas da Prata to the Basilica of Our Lady of Aparecida in ten days, highlighting the route's role in providing spiritual reflection and personal challenge.
