Brazilian trekking and pilgrimage routes

The Caminho da Fé is a religious pilgrimage route in Brazil that connects the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais, leading travelers toward the National Sanctuary of Aparecida. Inspired by the Camino de Santiago, the network spans 2,500 kilometers, with a main branch of approximately 320 kilometers that can be completed in about 12 days.

The route traverses the Serra da Mantiqueira within the Atlantic Forest biome, reaching altitudes of up to 1,024 meters. It passes through various conservation units and environmental protection areas, utilizing a mix of dirt trails, forests, and paved sections. The trail is noted for promoting community-based tourism and stimulating economic and social development in small towns and villages along the path.

In addition to the Caminho da Fé, Brazil features other significant regional trekking and pilgrimage routes, such as the Caminho dos Veadeiros. This trail traverses the Cerrado biome, connecting Formosa and Cavalcante in Goiás across 1,212 kilometers, passing through protected areas like the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park.
