Camioneros Union to Oust Balazic Over $10M Fraud, Says Hugo Moyano

Hugo Moyano, head of the Camioneros union in Argentina, called an extraordinary assembly of delegates for Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Intersur Hotel, San Telmo. The meeting will consider the removal of Claudio Balazic, former administrative secretary, who is under judicial investigation for an alleged $10 million fraud linked to inflated prices at a union‑owned hotel in Mar del Plata.

Balazic and treasurer Paulo Villegas have already been suspended from their posts while prosecutors examine the hotel’s accounts and computer records. Seven people are currently under investigation. The assembly will follow union statutes that require proof of serious breaches such as embezzlement or statutory violations, and Balazic is entitled to defend himself at the hearing.
