Initially, union leader Hugo Moyano called for an extraordinary assembly to consider the removal of former administrative secretary Claudio Balazic. Balazic and treasurer Paulo Villegas were suspended amid a judicial investigation into an alleged $10 million fraud involving inflated prices at a union-owned hotel in Mar del Plata. Subsequent scrutiny has expanded to include Hugo Moyano and his family. Records indicate that between late April and early June, approximately $2.58 billion pesos were transferred from union accounts at Banco Provincia to trusts linked to Moyano’s wife, Liliana Esther Zulet. These funds were directed toward a holding company managed by Zulet and several of Moyano’s children.

New details reveal this operation utilized a triangulation scheme involving three intermediary trusts—Thoth, Khasis, and Dhanvantari—which share fiscal addresses with the family’s core businesses: textile firm Dixey SA, construction company Aconra SA, and healthcare provider Iarai SA. These transfers occurred while the union’s healthcare provider, Oschoca, reportedly faces a liability of nearly $30,000 million and a loss of over 17,000 active contributors.

Additionally, investigations have highlighted the financial activities of Moyano’s son, Facundo Moyano. Central Bank records show his monthly bank debt reached over $48 million in March 2026, a figure significantly higher than his reported monthly salary of $3.2 million from the state-owned company AUBASA. Authorities also continue to investigate the family’s extensive real estate holdings, including large estates in Coronel Brandsen.
