Camorra infiltrates Castellammare di Stabia municipal technical office via suspended geometer

Geometer Angelo Schettino, arrested for external association with the Camorra, was suspended from the professional register on 1 March 2024. The suspension notice was never entered into the municipal computer system of Castellammare di Stabia, allowing Schettino to continue signing building permits, SCIA documents and other urban‑planning procedures for more than fourteen months.

Internal controls at the town hall failed to detect the suspended professional’s activity; no officials verified the effectiveness of the suspension or performed retrospective checks on the acts he signed. The Prefectural Access Commission’s report highlighted the “total absence of internal checks” and described this as a clear case of Camorra’s silent colonisation of public bureaucracy.
