Camp de Tarragona ozone levels trigger health alert

The Department of Ecological Transition of the Generalitat de Catalunya has issued an alert regarding high levels of tropospheric ozone in the Camp de Tarragona region. A maximum concentration of 183 µg/m3 was recorded at the Alcover monitoring station at midday.

Health authorities have warned that these levels may affect vulnerable populations, including infants, preschool children, pregnant women, and individuals with respiratory or cardiac conditions. The Agència de Salut Pública de Catalunya recommends that these groups reduce intense physical activity, particularly outdoors.

Local authorities are advised to recommend reduced outdoor physical exertion at educational centers, residential facilities for the elderly, and organizations hosting activities for children or seniors. While levels in the Camp de Tarragona and Vic plain are expected to remain between unfavorable and regular, concentrations are projected to decrease by the evening.
