Campania authorities address road safety and infrastructure emergencies

Authorities in the Campania region are addressing critical road safety and infrastructure issues following recent accidents and landslides.

In Positano, the city council held an extraordinary session to discuss the SP 425 provincial road, which connects Montepertuso and Nocelle. The meeting focused on the legitimacy of emergency spending required to secure a landslide area. While former mayor Giuseppe Guida defended previous administrative actions taken to involve the Province of Salerno and the Superintendency to resolve isolation issues, the current minority opposition expressed concerns regarding the legality of the debt incurred for these works.

Simultaneously, in Naples, the Prefect presided over a meeting of the Observatory for the Monitoring and Planning of Road Accident Interventions. This summit was prompted by a fatal motorcycle accident on the SS 145 Sorrentina. Local mayors from Sorrento, Vico Equense, Gragnano, and Piano di Sorrento, along with representatives from Anas and law enforcement, met to examine infrastructure interventions needed to reduce high accident rates on the stretch between Sorrento and Castellammare di Stabia.
