Campania implements European emergency number 112
The Campania region is rolling out the European Emergency Number (NUE) 112 through a phased implementation schedule. The service begins on October 27 in the telephone districts of Salerno, Battipaglia, Vallo della Lucania, and Sala Consilina.
Following the initial launch, the service will expand to Avellino and Sant’Angelo dei Lombardi on November 10, and to Caserta and Benevento on November 24. The regional rollout will be completed on December 9 with the activation of the Naples district.
The 112 service is free from both landlines and mobile phones. It serves as a single point of contact for Carabinieri, State Police, Firefighters, and medical emergencies. While traditional numbers like 113, 115, and 118 remain functional, calls will be routed through the NUE 112 response centers. These centers are designed to identify the nature of the emergency and automatically acquire location data to direct responders to the caller's position.
