Campania implementation of emergency number 112
Overview
The Campania region is executing a phased rollout of the Numero Unico Europeo (NUE) 112, a single emergency number service. The implementation began in the telephone districts of Salerno, Battipaglia, Vallo della Lucania, and Sala Consilina.
The rollout is scheduled to expand to Avellino and Sant’Angelo dei Lombardi on November 10, followed by Caserta and Benevento on November 24, with the final activation in the Naples district expected on December 9.
The service is free for both landline and mobile users. While traditional emergency numbers like 113, 115, and 118 remain functional, calls will be routed through NUE 112 response centers. These centers are designed to identify the type of emergency and automatically acquire location data to direct the appropriate responders, such as Carabinieri, State Police, Firefighters, or medical services.
