Campania police units launch Salerno security squad and commemorate Naples mobile unit's 80th anniversary
The municipality of Salerno will unveil a new Nucleus Operativo Sicurezza (N.O.S.) of the municipal police on Tuesday, 23 June, at 10 a.m. in the Palazzo di Città. Mayor Vincenzo De Luca will outline the unit’s purpose, organization and 24‑hour operational model. About twenty officers are expected to be assigned, focusing on micro‑crime, drug trafficking, illegal vending, public‑space monitoring and other urban security challenges, with dedicated vehicles and protective gear planned.
In Naples, a ceremony marked the 80th anniversary of the IV Reparto Mobile of the State Police at the Nino Bixio barracks. Chief of Police Vittorio Pisani, Prefect Michele Di Bari and other officials attended, and the Sala Benessere was dedicated to the memory of late Vice‑Questore Dr Ciro Lomaistro, who died in a 2019 road accident. Speakers highlighted the role of mobile police units in maintaining public order during the country’s many demonstrations and praised the professionalism of the force.
