Italian security ops and outreach July‑Sept 2026
Entities: Castelvetrano · Accademia Comandante Alfa · Carabinieri · Gruppo Intervento Speciale (GIS) · Antonio (Comandante Alfa)
Overview
In early July Italy added sixteen Carabinieri to Abruzzo’s Teramo province, deployed eighty‑one newly trained Carabinieri across Tuscany, and posted seventy State Police officers to Liguria’s coastal stations. Municipal actions created a dedicated security unit in Salerno and expanded the “Agenti di comunità” programme in Brescia. The Interior Ministry earmarked 139 new officers for Calabria and added posts for Abruzzo, Siracusa and Salerno as part of a national plan that will train more than 3,000 officers in the 233ᵗʰ‑course cohort for August‑September deployment. On 12 July a second Carabinieri wave arrived: eleven officers began service in Massa Carrara, while twelve second‑year marshal trainees joined the Forlì‑Cesena company at Cesenatico with specialist support from Liguria and Veneto. Senior officers from the Emilia‑Romagna legion and specialized SAT and SIO squads were also attached, reinforcing patrols along the Adriatic tourism corridor through late August. A further reinforcement was announced for August: more than 1,000 newly trained police officers will be deployed, with major allocations to Puglia, Palermo, Abruzzo, Sardinia, Calabria, Marche, Siracusa, Pesaro‑Urbino, Brescia and Lombardy, plus 181 new officers for all Tuscan provinces. The State Police launched the 235ᵗʰ training course for police cadets on 7 September, enrolling 1,650 trainees. Community outreach continued with a beach‑side “drunk‑driving” simulation in Senigallia and, on 23 July, the launch of the 27th national road‑safety campaign “Vacanze con i Fiocchi” from Lipari. The event, hosted by the ASP of Messina, promoted lower speed limits, eco‑friendly driving and safe‑travel practices, with a spin‑off “Eolie da vivere” project targeting residents and tourists. Materials will be distributed nationwide during the last weekend of July. The week of 18 July saw the Carabinieri honour two notable figures. On 19 July the Carabinieri mourned Lieutenant Antonio “Comandante Alfa” Marzullo, a GIS founder, with hometown tributes.
