Campania private healthcare sector suspends scheduled admissions

The AIOP Campania assembly has confirmed a state of crisis within the region's accredited private healthcare sector, leading to a progressive reduction in scheduled hospital admissions. Starting September 16, there has been a reduction in scheduled rehabilitative, long-term care, and non-urgent medical and surgical admissions, with a total suspension planned to take effect by September 21, 2026.

AIOP attributes this crisis to several factors, including spending limits, tariff adjustments, territorial needs, rising operational costs, and payment delays from local health authorities (ASL).

UGL Salute Campania has expressed strong concern regarding the impact on thousands of healthcare workers. Regional secretary Gerardo Marino stated that the burden of the systemic crisis should not be placed on employees and called for the Campania Region to engage in serious dialogue with social partners to address the financial instability.
