In response to the suspension, AIOP has called for the release of €35 million in residual funds from 2025 and an additional €7 million for the current year, citing economic instability caused by frozen medical tariffs dating back to 2012 and a lack of defined budgets. While emergency services remain guaranteed, officials warn the suspension of elective surgery, general medicine, and long-term care will divert thousands of patients to overcrowded public emergency rooms. Labor unions, including Cisl and Uil, have criticized the situation, with some warning that the suspension harms both patients and workers, while others cautioned against unilateral actions by private clinics.
