Campania radiotherapy centers face service halt over contract deadlock

Accredited private radiotherapy centres in Italy's Campania region warned that, without final contracts and budget limits for 2026, they may be unable to continue providing life‑saving oncology treatments. The facilities are currently operating on an informal extension of 2025 volumes, which are already undersized, leaving staff salaries, equipment upkeep and maintenance to be funded by the centres themselves.

A meeting of the regional health authorities and the centres is set for Wednesday at the Hotel Ramada in Naples to resolve the contract and programming issues that have been pending since a change of regional government and delays in the 2024‑2025 budgeting process. The centres stress that the lack of agreement threatens free radiotherapy services for patients, increased pressure on public hospitals and could lead to costly legal disputes.
