Campania Region Allocates Nearly €5 Million to Third‑Sector Welfare Projects

The Campania regional government announced a public call that earmarks almost €4.8 million for third‑sector organisations to develop local welfare initiatives. The funding, divided between projects costing €25‑50 k for municipal or supra‑municipal actions and larger programmes of €50‑170 k for inter‑provincial or regional efforts, aims to address poverty, social isolation, disability inclusion, inequality and environmental protection. Andrea Morniroli, the region’s assessor for Social Policies, said the resources are meant to transform ideas into concrete interventions for the most vulnerable communities.

At the same time, a CGIL‑commissioned study shows that Campania’s provincial capitals rank among the lowest in Italy for per‑capita municipal spending on social services. In 2022, Caserta spent €37 per resident, Avellino €60, Benevento €71, Napoli €78 and Salerno €81, well below the national average of €207. The report warns that limited local budgets risk cutting essential services such as childcare, home care for the disabled and support for the elderly, widening the north‑south gap in social protection.
