Campbell River Storm game postponed due to rink glass malfunction

A Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) game between the Campbell River Storm and the Kerry Park Islanders was postponed on Friday, September 25, due to a rink glass malfunction. The incident occurred approximately seven minutes into the first period following a hit by Storm player Foster Armstrong, which caused a section of the glass behind the Kerry Park net to pop out and shatter upon hitting the ground.

Storm head coach Lee Stone described the event as a “freak thing” and noted that arena staff were unable to repair the damage in time to continue the contest. The league is currently determining the details for a rescheduled game. Fans who attended the original match will be provided with free tickets to the rescheduled event.

Following the postponement, the Campbell River Storm played a separate game on Sunday, September 27, defeating the Nanaimo Buccaneers 6-2.
