Campeche agricultural dispute and sanitation issues reported

In Hopelchén, Campeche, agricultural leaders are denouncing irregularities regarding a land dispute in the community of Nueva Trinidad. Heraclio Rodríguez Gómez, leader of the Frente Nacional para el Rescate del Campo Mexicano, reported that 300 hectares of nearly harvested sorghum were sold by third parties without the proceeds being secured by the court.

The conflict involves a land lawsuit between José Antonio Huitz and Johan Neufeld. Rodríguez Gómez criticized Judge Claudia Gabriela Cervantes Luna for failing to require a judicial deposit of the harvest funds, which should have remained protected until a final ruling was issued. The agricultural organization has announced legal actions to demand the funds be deposited into court accounts to prevent land disputes from being used as mechanisms for financial dispossession.

Separately, residents in the Ampliación Miguel Hidalgo area of Campeche have reported severe environmental and sanitary issues. Local inhabitants claim that vacant lots have become illegal dumping grounds for household waste, tires, and furniture. This has led to infestations of rodents and stray animals, as well as health risks from the frequent burning of trash, which residents say affects the respiratory health of children and the elderly. Neighbors state that municipal authorities have failed to provide inspections or sanctions to address the situation.
