Campeche beaches cleared for safe swimming as authorities boost security
Seventeen beaches along the Campeche coast received a perfect 100 % rating from Cofepris after more than 2,200 water samples were analyzed between mid‑June and early July. The tests found no microbiological contamination, allowing families and tourists to swim safely throughout the summer vacation period. Health secretary Orlando Alvarado Rivadeneyra confirmed that conditions remain stable and that the state agency COPRISCAM will continue surprise inspections and monitoring for the season.
To complement the health safeguards, the state’s Secretariat of Protection and Citizen Security deployed a joint security operation across key beach sites such as Sabancuy, Payucán, Playa Bonita and Ciudad del Carmen. The operation, led by Secretary Marcela Muñoz Martínez, involves the National Guard, the Mexican Army, the Navy, federal prosecutors and municipal police, ensuring a secure environment for the influx of visitors during the holiday period.
