Campeche launches food sovereignty plan to support dairy producers

The government of Campeche has launched the ‘Plan Campeche para la Soberanía Alimentaria’ to support local producers and strengthen food sovereignty. A key component of this initiative is the establishment of a new pasteurization plant and five collection centers, aimed at benefiting approximately 1,100 local milk producers by preventing product loss and reducing dependence on intermediaries.

To support the dairy sector, 27 specialized technicians will be deployed to train 877 producers in quality and hygiene standards, integrating them into the ‘Leche para el Bienestar’ distribution chain. The plan also extends to other agricultural sectors, providing certified seeds to 301 rice farmers and distributing pasture seeds and shade trees to support livestock production and soil protection.
