Campeche, Mexico holds agrarian caravan to support women's land rights

On July 29, the National Agrarian Registry (RAN) will organise a mobile service caravan in Xpujil, Campeche, aimed at strengthening women’s rights to land under social property. The event, coordinated between the state government and federal agrarian offices, will provide documentation, parcel and communal land certifications, and legal guidance to help women obtain formal recognition of ejidal and communal holdings.

The caravan is part of President Claudia Sheinbaum’s commitment number 53 to increase female participation in agrarian affairs and to reduce the lag in women’s land access. RAN officials noted that women already represent about 40 % of RAN staff and that some ejido committees are now led by women, signalling a shift in rural mindsets toward gender equity.
