Campi Flegrei: Delay in publishing government decree sparks local protests
Local authorities and political representatives in the Campi Flegrei region are demanding the immediate publication of a government decree intended to address the consequences of bradyseism and seismic activity. Although the Council of Ministers approved the measure on October 13, the official text has not yet appeared in the Gazzetta Ufficiale, leaving citizens, businesses, and local administrations without clarity on resources, procedures, or implementation timelines.
The proposed decree includes a ten-year strategy with resources exceeding one billion euros. Key measures include the establishment of a new commissioner structure led by Campania Region President Roberto Fico, financial aid for repairing damaged properties, incentives to reduce building vulnerability, and the suspension of mortgages and tax obligations.
Mayors from Bacoli and Pozzuoli, along with members of the Azione party, have criticized the delay. They emphasize that the lack of official documentation prevents the start of structural safety works and fails to provide certainty to thousands of displaced families and local economic operators. Local leaders are calling for the transition from political announcements to concrete, verifiable interventions.
